Verizon iPhone is Here

By Brenda Bethman

It’s no secret that many of us here at Student Affairs Women Talk Tech are big iPhone / iPad fans. So of course we couldn’t let today’s news of a Verizon iPhone

pass unnoticed. Below, a roundup of the coverage of today’s big event:

MacLife: ” Five Things You Need to Know About the Verizon iPhone 4″

The Apple Core Blog: “Verizon iPhone with Personal Hotspot due Feb 10”

The Unofficial Apple Weblog: “Verizon iPhone Can’t Handle Data and Voice Simultaneously” (as an aside, I have to confess that this is where my geekiness breaks down. I just don’t get why this is a big deal? How can you see your data when you’re talking onthe phone? And if the answer is speakerphone, then just no. HATE speakerphone — plus it’s rude to read your email, surf whatever while you’re on the phone. Call me old-fashioned. But sometimes I think tech blogs just look for things to complain about. I’m not planning on switching from AT&T right now, but this is not something that would stop me if I were planning to do so. Am I missing something?)

TechCrunch: “What’s So Special About the Verizon iPhone? Personal Hotspots” (now that is something I could get behind as a reason for switching).

What about you? Are you excited about the Verizon iPhone? Planning to switch from AT&T or get one for the first time? Or do you think the iPhone is overrated? Let us know in the comments!

I will totally switch from my HTC Android phone. I’ve been waiting for this day since the beginning of iPhones, I’m so thrilled it’s finally here. The personal hotspot feature will be great for traveling.
